Our Approach
GoArchaeo
GoArchaeo is an umbrella organisation for volunteers in field archaeology. We list and publicise a range of approved projects seeking volunteers at home and abroad.
Our philosophy is simple. The past belongs to everyone, and the investigation of the past through material remains should be open to all.
Field archaeology can be a life-enriching leisure activity. Too often, the volunteer enthusiast is excluded. Our aim is to provide a range of experiences – expeditions, surveys, excavations, archive research, object-based studies – all under academic and professional leadership, but at the same time open to the enthusiastic volunteer.
Our projects are ground-breaking. Your participation will contribute to real academic research. And you will have great fun working as part of our team.
Learn - don't just look
No archaeology experience? No problem. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. We will happily teach beginners or use your existing skills.
Destinations
Our projects take place in unique, often spectacular destinations. We always engage with local communities, and work in partnership with them.
